第四章 原子武器的意义：1946—1949年

美国队长是战争时期超级英雄们退伍后极少数还持续了两年的。在《美国队长漫画》第59期（1946年11月）中，主人公成为一名高中老师，业余时间打击犯罪。巴基在第七期（1948年4月）被枪杀，黄金女郎取而代之。1949年，美国队长、潜水人、霹雳火都从《漫威神秘漫画》中消失了，只有DC公司的中坚分子超人、蝙蝠侠和神奇女侠没有受到影响，保留他们的头衔。

1947年，一直在测试缴获的V-2火箭的美国陆军发布了一款画有登月火箭的征兵广告，上面印有口号：“和美国陆军一起迈入明天的世界吧。”海军也模仿着发布了一款征兵海报，画面以月球和土星为背景，一艘火箭正飞离地球。上面印的口号是：“天空是极限。现在来从事电子行业吧。”31

1949年6月，菲利普·莱瑟姆（天文学家罗伯特·理查森）发表在《惊奇科幻》上的一篇文章指出，“据说阿佛洛狄忒项目是一份320页的政府报告摘要，愚弄了不少人”，使他们都认为1947年1月美国海军已经成功向金星发射了一枚无人火箭。32

1949年8月29日，苏联第一次核武器试验取得成功。

1950年5月8日，美国国务卿提出要在越南帮助法国打败胡志明领导的军队；6月25日，美国国家安全委员会谴责朝鲜出兵韩国；8月4日，杜鲁门总统下令美国陆军准备派遣62万名士兵执行军事任务。很快美国将再次发动战争，这次目标不是月球或行星——而海因莱茵将前往好莱坞。
